Memory cards are standard issue kit for all manner of devices these days. You probably have one for your camera, your mobile and perhaps your computer as well. But the best bit is – if you choose the right tech and make sure it’s compatible, you can use the same memory card for all of them.
Many devices are now compatible with 16GB Micro SD cards, which makes life so much easier when it comes to choosing which memory card to load up your phone or camera with. It might be that your camera takes better pics than your mobile, in which case you can slot one of these cards into your camera for instant pics and film footage. Then, when you want to load up some music to take out on your mobile, you can switch the card, and have tunes at the ready. They’re totally versatile which is why they’ve become such a popular choice for anyone who needs tech on the go but doesn’t want the hassle of carrying a load of different memory cards with them.
These 16GB Micro SD cards couldn’t be a whole lot smaller unless you needed a microscope to see them. They’re so tiny that they literally don’t take up any room and you won’t need a bulkier phone or camera in order to use them – in fact, quite the opposite. And, stock yourself up with two or three of these little cards and that will be pretty much all the memory you need for the foreseeable future.
They’re great value for money too. It wasn’t all that long ago that you’d have to shell out a King’s ransom to buy a bulky card that was only capable of storing a handful of high-quality snaps. There would be a lot of fussing and panicking when it was time to change the card and a lot of prime photo opportunities were missed as people rummaged in bags or pockets for spare memory cards. Often these would already be full and that meant extra time in front of the computer, uploading one card at a time and waiting as those few photos were added to the collection.
Nowadays however, you are likely to forget that you even have a memory card in your camera or your phone, especially those with more space, as they hold so much data that they last for weeks without being emptied. Of course, if you plan to take a lot of high-quality film footage then you might find you need to change a bit more often but if you’re sticking to good old-fashioned photos, you should be able to fit hundreds of holiday snaps onto one 16BG Micro SD card.
Technology has come on such a lot that we take it for granted that we can keep snapping away to our heart’s content. But here’s a tip – always keep a spare card in your pocket. It will be typical that your card fills up just when you’re arriving at that once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity and you have to make the gut-wrenching decision to delete other prized pics or to leave with no memories of a wonder of the world.
