LG has always been a pioneering presence in the field of cell phones. LG Thrive, the latest Smartphone developed by the company is a good attempt to capture the imagination of the customer. Incorporating the advanced connectivity features, LG Thrive is stylishly designed too.
LG Thrive
LG Thrive Design
LG Thrive is a Candybar Smartphone. Special emphasis is provided on its weight aspect. The phone appears really light and can easily fit in your pocket. Regular slot for memory card insertion is also provided. The standard headphone connector and USB points are also present. Just beneath the display screen; four standard buttons are added for performing basic functions. The phone is available in Gray colour only.
LG Thrive Display
LG Thrive employs a LCD display screen. The screen is fairly large in size. Employment of a 320X480 screen resolution makes the clarity of pictures even easier. Capacitive touch screen is used to access the screen icons. A special multi-touch feature along with a proximity sensor is also present.
LG Thrive Operating system and processor
The phone is known to be of high speed capability. Well it is certainly true. Android operating system is used, which is developed by Google. Android enables the complete control over the features of the phone. A high processing 600 MHz frequency processor is used.
LG Thrive Multimedia
The cell phone is a treat for those who enjoy video multimedia capabilities. An inbuilt youtube player is present for playing the various videos on the internet. For music lovers, there is good news as well. Various formats are supported by the music player are
- MP3
- AAC
- WMA
- WAV
- WMR
Almost all types of music files can be played. The sound clarity is good too. Tracks can be arranged into albums and playlists. Sorting based on various parameters is also present. Radio can be tuned in as well. External speakers can be interfaced for louder sound. Overall, Multimedia is the strong point of this phone.
LG Thrive Camera and Camcorder
Well a letdown for me was the camera aspect. Yes it is decent, but you expect more from a Smartphone. The resolution of the Camera is of 3.2 Megapixels. Special features of Auto focus and Zoom in capability are present. Flash light feature is missing though! The camcorder produced some distorted videos, which were not of great quality. All-in-all camera features are satisfactory but not top-notch.
LG Thrive Battery
A battery of 1500 mAh is used in this phone. Well it is quite sufficient I must say. The specified standby time is of 480 hours, which is roughly around 19 days. The battery is known to give power for almost 7.50 hours of phone conversation. I found this feature interesting. Longer battery life certainly is a great feature, especially as we are talking about a Smartphone.
LG Thrive Internet
Being a Smartphone, internet connectivity has to be of highest order. The phone does not disappoint on this front. Support for various techniques such as the HTML, Extended HTML (XHTML) and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) are provided. Additional built in features for accessing social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook are present.
LG Thrive Messaging and contacts
Basic features of messaging are present. Simple SMS is provided in addition to E-mails services. Popular E-mail protocols; SMTP and POP3 are supported.
Extensive phonebook functions are incorporated by this Smartphone. Some of the features are
- Making caller groups.
- Storing multiple numbers for a particular contact.
- Detailed searching methods for finding a particular contact name.
- A specialized Picture ID and Ring ID for every contact.
Almost infinite number of contacts can be saved. You can also switch your contacts on the memory card for backup and storage capabilities.
LG Thrive Memory
Apart from the inbuilt phone memory of 150 MB (which is quite large as compared to other Smartphone’s), an additional microSD card can be attached. The card can be either a microSD or a microSDHC. The extendable memory of the memory card may rise up to 32 GB
LG Thrive Connectivity
A standard Bluetooth version 2.1 is used for connectivity. Additional Wi-Fi connectivity is also present for connecting the Smartphone across a network. For USB connections, a special micro USB version 2.0 is provided to interface the cell phone. You can use the feature for transferring data, internet connectivity or for charging the phone. Also data Tethering feature is enabled.
LG Thrive General
Useful tools such as an Alarm, Calculator, Calendar and reminder provide the needed supportive capability. An accelerometer sensor is present, which makes the accessibility an even easier process.
LG Thrive is quite a good cell phone for those who enjoy multimedia capability. The internet connectivity is quite good too. Access to thousands of applications is a wonderful feature too. But on the flip side, camera functions are a bit of a letdown. Opt for this if you prefer a Smartphone with high speed capabilities.
