Is iPhone 5 Worth the Wait?

If you keep yourself waiting for buying better technology, your wait will go on forever. Technology is constantly changing at such a rate that the top featured smart phone will be obsolete after 6 months. However, since the release of iPhone 5 is near, does it make sense to pursue the idea of upgrading from an iPhone 4S?

Design

Design wise, the iPhone 5 is expected to be taller than the iPhone 4S with a 4 inch display. Given that Apple continues with its fascination for making every new product thinner than its predecessor, the leaked iPhone 5 casing images tell us that the phone will be only 7.6mm thick. This is one of the reasons for what to buy iPhone 5, especially if you don’t like a bulky phone in your pocket. However, there will not be too many changes in the casing of the phone, so your iPhone 4S will pretty much stay in fashion along with the iPhone 5.

Screen

The screen of the iPhone product line will, for the first time, be changed. The new iPhone will feature a 4 inch IPS display with a resolution of 640 x 1136; making it a wide screen. If you use your phone for multimedia and gaming purposes, exchanging your current phone for the new iPhone would be sensible due to the better view as well as increased display area to accommodate game controls.

Processor

The processor specs should be bumped up on the iPhone 5 with the A5x dual core CPU and quad core GPU. Another reason for the gaming enthusiast to go with this phone.

Memory and Storage

Another reason for what to buy iPhone 5 is the RAM. The phone will double its memory to 1GB, improving the user experience. The internal storage capacity will be the same; 16, 32 or 64GB. However, memory and storage capacity should not concern the current iPhone 4S owner since their phones can provide pretty much the best performance.

Camera

The camera will be the same- 8mp. There won’t be anything different to offer in this section, although Apple can improve the sharpness as well as camera resolution.

Connectivity

One of the major concerns of many Apple fans is the speculated new connector. If the rumor is true, then it might leave many fans angry since they’ll have to purchase the appropriate accessories compatible with the new connector. In case you just bought an iPhone 4S with all appropriate accessories, it would be wise to use the phone at least for an year or two, before upgrading. (NOTE: This is yet another assumption based on the leaked body casing images).

On the other hand, iPhone 5 will support 4G LTE, a feature missing from iPhone 4S.

Price and Availability

It would come off as no surprise if the iPhone 5 is given at $200 to $350 on contract primarily with Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. An off contract price is rumored to be around $800. However, when the iPhone 5 will be released, iPhone 4S will drop down to $50 to $100 on contract, making it a cheap bargain for new customers or existing customers who want to renew their contract.

iOS 6

There is no doubt about the fact that the iPhone 5 will natively support iOS 6. The only drawback the iPhone 4S users could face would be something similar to what happened to iPhone 4 users when they were denied of Siri. So, the latest iPhone might have a major edge on the software side over its predecessors.

Extreme Yet Possible

With the hype created during the post-Jobs time, a waterproof surface could be a reason for what to buy iPhone 5.
