Just as the world let out a cry for the dual-core Smartphone, LG along with NVIDIA responded to the calling. If truth be told, the world’s only yet dreamt of a multicore mobile architecture up until last year, nevertheless, I guess, every so often, it becomes a dream call for zany engineers to get down to business….in other words-engineering!
LG Optimus 2X
Early 2011, the month of February was when LG introduced the globe’s 1st ever Dual Core Processor Smartphone, the charismatic Optimus 2X. The handset has proved to be a landmark in more ways than one, nevertheless, as the presence of the Optimus 2X on the marketplace indicates LG’s 1st sincere incursion hooked on the high end of an Android.
Although this company has brought two thoroughly proficient gadgets for the platform in the company of Optimus T & Optimus S in the year 2010, they proved to be mid-ranging Smartphone’s and the fact is that companies like HTC, Motorola & Samsung were left behind to battle among themselves to win the most claiming Android user’ well-deserved rubles. Here’s a sneak peek into this wonder!
LG Optimus 2X SOFTWARE & APPS
The LG Optimus 2X comes with a 2.2.1 Android assembled FRG83. I’ve got to inform you that the 2.2 Android isn’t sincerely optimized for a dual core phone but regardless of that slight glitch, the phone does manage to run swift. LG has pledged a modernization to the 2.3 Android Gingerbread for Optimus 2X and I cannot wait to seek a benchmark with this revision. With the FroYo even, most of the operations appear a lot quicker than the other Android handsets that are there in the markets.
LG Optimus 2X User Interface
A bit of a concern here I must say, some mixed feeling regarding the UI. Even as we cherished the home screen & the unlock screen, it’s the icons that look somewhat inconsistent & unbefitting. You can organize the quantity of panels on the home screen and affix widgets to all home screens. The Android widgets & the LG widgets both can be affixed. The evolution is appealingly smooth, owing to abundance of processing power. Feature for weather widget’s pretty awesome and trust me, it’s worth checking.
There are shortcuts on the notification bar for Wi-Fi, Sound, GPS, Accelerometer & Bluetooth.right below is the music player which you can turn-off in case desired. The coolest thing about the LG Optimus 2X is that you can direct the music without even having to unlock the screen!
LG Optimus 2X Apps
The LG Optimus 2X comes with pre-installed apps. MySpace, Facebook & Twitter are present as social network apps & have been built up by LG especially for LG Optimus 2X.There’s an F-Secure app by the name of Browsing Protection app.
LG Optimus 2X VERDICT
There have been more than just a few things that one can complain about when it comes to the Optimus 2X. A list of things that perhaps LG did not get right on this phone and could’ve done a better job at. What it could’ve done was got a more first-rate external exterior simply to make it seem special. A camera key would have been a great idea, but then maybe it’s been omitted to preserve that simplistic design. Even though there’ll be a lot more Dual-core handsets hitting the marketplace soon, LG has already scored full marks as it was the very first! The battery life is incredible (to say the least). It can last you a day on dim brightness. I mean seriously, where do you get a 3G with constant downloads and video playbacks that can last 12-13 hours!? my guess is that with minimum usage, this battery will easily last you 2 days on a single charge! If you’re someone who worships to continue being advanced with the most modern technology, I’d suggest go ahead, own the LG Optimus 2X!
