Fable
If you are into RPG games that allow a lot of customization like altering your avatar in every conceivable way from physical attributes to behavior and attire, a lot of quests to be completed alongside the main quest then Fable is the RPG you definitely want to check out! Released in 2004 exclusively for windows and Xbox platforms, this RPG was being promoted as the “The greatest RPG of all times” by its developers and heavily marketed by Microsoft.
Though, not greatest RPG of all times material but Fable certainly would qualify as the one of the greatest RPG of recent times owing to its in-depth story line, awesomely fun and innovative battle mechanics. The most fun aspect of the game that I loved was the freedom to play as a Good Samaritan or play as an evil zealot! There are various guilds to join and questing for different goal attainment and exploration of the world. All in all, Fable is an RPG that is thoroughly enjoyable and on the must play list.
The legend of Zelda
Even Nintendo hadn’t anticipated the magnitude of success this title would achieve! Legend of Zelda has gone down in the annals of history as one of the top classic RPG games of all times. Gamers still swear by it and quote memorable lines from it. Its characters are so influential that Hollywood actor Robin Williams named his daughter after the heroine princess Zelda! Legend of Zelda takes place in the fictional and highly picturesque world of hyrule, ruled by the beautiful princess Zelda. Her abduction by the evil Ganondorf prompts the protagonist of the game an elf named link to undertake a perilous journey to rally the forces wisdom to liberate the princess and put an end to Ganondorf’s tyranny. If you haven’t played legend of Zelda then you are missing out on a treat of a life time!

Hailed as the epitome of all JRPG’s and rightfully occupies the place of most beloved in terms of soundtrack, plot, battle mechanics and an immersive fantasy world full of meticulously built characters each having their own background story and special traits! Final Fantasy hails from a series of games that came as rescuer for their developers Square Enix which were nearly bankrupt and had it all riding on this last game of theirs. Little did they know that this game would not only get them out of financial crisis but go on to be remembered as the most lovable RPG series of all times.
